July is officially National Picnic Month and although the start of the month has brought us some rainy days, we are assured the sun will be making an appearance again soon. We love this time of year for its alfresco dining opportunities. At Culinary Concepts HQ we have been thinking about must-visit picnic spots in our local area and throughout the UK, and thought we would share some of our favourites!

Hampshire Hidden Gems:

In Hampshire where we are based, we are spoilt for choice with beautiful destinations perfect for picnicking. A firm favourite of our team for a picnic is the New Forest National Park, where ancient woodlands, serene rivers, and open meadows provide the perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Whilst there, save time to explore the charming villages of Brockenhurst and Lyndhurst, ideal for picnics amidst traditional thatched cottages. For coastal delights, visit the sandy shores of Milford-on-Sea or the cliff-top of Barton-on-Sea for a coastal picnic with stunning panoramic views.

Scenic Splendours in Surrey:

Surrey is also full of picnic hot-spots! Well known for its picturesque countryside and elegant estates why not lose yourself in the enchanting landscapes of Surrey Hills, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, where woodlands, and picture-postcard villages are picnic perfect. We also love the Surrey Hills Sculpture Garden, a hidden gem where art meets nature. The Sculpture Garden has perfect picnic spots equipped with tables and seating, and even has two lovely Thai Huts where you can picnic under cover.  For a touch of grandeur, enjoy a picnic on the grounds of Polesden Lacey or Loseley Park, two magnificent stately homes with stunning gardens that exude charm and history. We also love to explore RHS Garden Wisley which is packed full of picnic opportunities perfect. Wisley Gardens are just perfect for those looking for a quiet relaxing time amongst beautiful floral delights and a firm family favourite with so much to keep children entertained.

Must-Visit Picnic Destinations across the UK:

If you are venturing a little further afield there are numerous other destinations across the UK that have impressed up with their perfect picnic locations. The Lake District in Cumbria is top of our list with majestic lakes, towering mountains, and lush valleys create a breathtaking backdrop for your outdoor feast. We would also recommend The Cotswolds, known for its English charm and picturesque villages including Bourton-on-the-Water and Bibury, where you can settle down by the tranquil riverbanks and enjoy a delightful picnic. For coastal picnic spots we also love Cornwall or the Dorset where there are so many picnic must-visit spots you will be spoilt for choice including St. Ives, Polzeath, Lulworth Cove, Durdle Door just to name a few of our favourites.
